The TB-500 guideUnderstand. Check. Ask. Bring your questions

Prepare your questions

Claims that need a closer check

Use the wording on a page as a prompt for questions. Keep the answer tied to a source.

In the US, medicines are reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration, known as the FDA.

Check three kinds of claim

A research label does not settle intended use

Read the claims and the context around the label.

  • As of September 2026, FDA warning letters explain that calling a product research-only does not cancel evidence of its intended use as a drug for people.
  • In warning letters, the FDA pointed to sellers offering bottles of water for mixing with peptides and guides for preparing injections. It treated these offers as evidence that the products were intended for people to inject.
  • Ask why a product described as research material is being discussed as personal care.

Approval claims need an approval record

Ask what a badge or code means and which official record supports it.

  • As of September 2026, a drug-making business being listed with the FDA does not mean its medicine is approved. A government drug code identifies a listed product; it also does not mean approval.
  • Calling a medicine made to order FDA-approved is a false claim, as of September 2026.
  • The group asking the FDA to let pharmacies use TB-500 took back its request. That did not give TB-500 approval or permission for pharmacy use, as of September 2026.

Care needs more than a checkout

Ask who is assessing the problem and how to reach that person with questions.

  • Medical board guidance rules out choosing treatment solely through a fixed online form that fails to collect enough information for proper care.
  • As of September 2026, federal law forbids dispensing a prescription medicine unless the prescription is valid.
  • The FDA lists unusually deep discounts as a warning sign to consider with other checks, rather than a stand-alone test.
